Conveniently located away from it all, Sierra Ranch Retreat is located in Genesee Valley in the northern Sierra Nevada Mountains of California - two hours by car from Reno and less than a day driving from anywhere in California. Traveling by Air
Two hours drive from Reno, Nevada or a 3 hour drive from Sacramento both with international airports make us close enough to take advantage of their offerings and far away enough to appreciate the beauty and serenity that makes the Sierra Ranch Retreat so unique. Once there you can choose to rent a car and enjoy the quick, scenic trip to the ranch or utilize our personalized airport shuttle service. Whichever route you may choose we’re sure the hardest part will be returning home!
Private Airport
We have two local airports for those who wish to fly themselves or book a private plane. These airports can accommodate all types of fixed wing aircraft. The Chester airport is 45 minutes drive time from the ranch while the Quincy airport is a 35 minute drive. Personalized Airport Shuttle Service is available for both of these options. Sierra Ranch Retreat can also arrange a private plane or helicopter to complete your journey from Reno or Sacramento to the ranch, please inquiry for pricing.
Private Airport
Our on site heliport is available for those wishing to travel to the ranch via helicopter or commute from an international airport to our location. For those wishing to commute from Reno or Sacramento to Sierra Ranch Retreat via helicopter we can make the necessary arrangements please inquire for pricing.

Traveling by Car
If you are traveling from the Reno or Sacramento Airport or from Lake Almanor/Chester, California we recommend the following directions to safely find your way to the Sierra Ranch Retreat (please note that the directions from these two locations that are provided by Google maps and other mapping services offer routes that are not recommended and unsafe for travel, for this reason we have provided you with safe and accurate directions):
Directions from Reno Airport
Exit the airport and follow signs to Highway 395 North. Take 395 North for approximately 30 miles. Please call us at the number above to give us a heads up you are on your way as you will be entering an area where cell phones will not work. You'll pass through the California Agricultural checkpoint and a few miles past the checkpoint you will come to the exit for Highway 70 West toward Portola.
Take Highway 70 West through Portola (it will turn into Highway 89 just past Portola and will turn back into Highway 70 as you leave Quincy); through Quincy until you come to the Junction of Highway 70 and 89 (approximately 10 miles North of Quincy). As you approach the junction you will notice a large yellow caution sign indicating a left-hand curve and a recommended speed of 50 miles per hour. Turn right (north) on Highway 89 toward Greenville, Lake Almanor for approximately 6 miles and then turn right on Arlington Road (Rt. A22) toward Taylorsville (immediately after you turn right, you will notice a golf course on the left). Taylorsville is approximately 6 miles from Highway 89 (don't blink or you might miss Taylorsville). Continue on straight through town and approximately 1/4 mile out of town the road will "Y" and you will want to stay to the right. At the "Y" you will notice the rodeo grounds on the left. Continue on past the rodeo grounds for approximately 6 miles. As you see the wooded area opening up to a small valley, you will be entering The Sierra Ranch Retreat and Genesee Valley.
Continue on for 1/2 mile to Downtown Genesee. If you blink here, you will definitely miss Downtown Genesee. It consists of Genesee Home (brick Victorian home on right), a country store, and two other homes. The first red building on the left hand side of the road is the office building for Sierra Ranch Retreat. Take the dirt road between the two buildings and park in back you’ll see our sign in the office window, come on in!

Directions from Sacramento Airport
Merge onto I-5 toward Sacramento/Yuba City (2.4 miles). Merge onto CA-70 N toward Yuba City/Marysville (34.6 miles). Turn right onto CA-20/CA-70/9th Street (0.2 miles). Turn left onto CA-20/CA-70/B St. Continue to follow CA-70 N (92.4 miles). Note: the last food and gas service before the ranch is in Oroville. (However, there are rest stops/restrooms on the way up Feather River Canyon.) Please phone us at the number above just as you are leaving Oroville to give us a heads up that you are on your way. You will then be entering an area where cell phones will not work.
Note the mileage markers on your way up the canyon indicating how far to Quincy. The left turn on to Hwy 70 is 10 miles west of (before) Quincy). Turn left onto CA-89 (6.1 miles) (just before the turn you will notice a truck scale on the left.) Turn right onto Arlington Rd/CR-A22 (5.3 miles)(immediately after you turn right and cross the railroad tracks you will notice a golf course on the left). Taylorsville is approximately 6 miles East of Highway 89 (don't blink or you might miss Taylorsville). Continue on straight through town and approximately 1/4 mile out of town the road will "Y" and you will want to stay to the right. At the "Y" you will notice the rodeo grounds on the left. Continue on past the rodeo grounds heading East for approximately 6 miles. As you see the wooded area opening up to a small valley, you will be entering The Sierra Ranch Retreat and Genesee Valley.
Continue on for 1/2 mile to Downtown Genesee. If you blink here, you will definitely miss Downtown Genesee. Directions from Lake Almanor/Chester Area
Take Highway 89 South toward Greenville. Please phone us at the number above just as you are leaving Chester to give us a heads up that you are on your way as you will then be entering an area where cell phone will not work.
Turn left on Main Street (the main intersection in Greenville). In approximately one mile the road will come to a "Y." Stay to the right and Main Street will turn into North Valley Road. Continue on for about 7 miles until you come to Beckworth Taylorsville Road. You'll notice the road and the white bridge; turn right. Note: It is the second bridge you'll see on the right. Continue east on Beckworth Taylorsville Road for approximately 7 miles ( in about one mile you will be passing the Taylorsville Rodeo grounds on the right). Turn left at the “T,” just past the rodeo grounds. Continue on for approximately 6 miles. As you see the wooded area opening up to a small valley, you will be entering The Sierra Ranch Retreat and Genesee Valley.

Directions from Northern California
Take I-5 south to Red Bluff, CA. At Red Bluff take the CA Hwy #36/CA Hwy #99 exit towards Chico/Lassen Park. Turn left on CA #36 exit and proceed on Hwy 36 east to Hwy 89, Chester and Lake Almanor. The Highway 36 and 89 junction is approximately 3 miles before Chester. Turn right or south on Hwy 89 towards Greenville. Continue on 89 south through Greenville to Crescent Mills. One mile south of Crescent Mills turn left, east, towards Taylorsville, County A22. There is a small golf course at the corner. Follow A22 into Taylorsville. In the town it is named Main Street as well. Stay on the road through town, past the Rodeo grounds on your left. At that point the road goes slightly to your right, follow that. If you stay right on Main/A22 you will be fine. Continue on A22 for approximately 6 miles through the trees. As you come into the valley you will see a group of red buildings that make up the 'town' of Genesee.

It is recommended to bring warmer clothes such as a light jacket or sweater for the evening regardless of the season, we are a high mountain retreat so you will experience some cool yet enjoyable evening weather.
